Highlights of the Budget 2024 Parliament Session: On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint session of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha to officially open the Budget Session. She stated, “Programmes like Made in India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and Digital India are our strengths now,” as she outlined the accomplishments of her government.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the interim budget to the Parliament on Thursday, February 1. The government will be able to pay its bills with the help of the interim budget until the Lok Sabha elections are over and a regular budget session is called.
The last day of the session is set for February 9. The President’s address, the interim budget, and a discussion of the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address with a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi constituted the principal items on the agenda for this session, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.
On Tuesday night, the suspension of 14 opposition members of parliament was lifted, including 3 members from the Lok Sabha and 11 from the Rajya Sabha.
